For about half of the songs this guy switched to bongos and there was another percussionist who would either take over congas or continue play woodblock and bells (there were no actual timbales though).
They played material from Rumbero Soy (la caminadora, llora como yo llore), viaje a la semilla (ensalada de congas orientales), tibiri tabara (felipe blanco), some classics (dile a catalina) and some songs I did not recognise. Oddly, I think there were no tunes from the latest disc Son, soul of the nation.
They were not promoted as much as Eliades Ochoa two years earlier, or because there was no reference to Buena Vista Social Club in the ads, so surprisingly for group of such level, the venue was only half full.
This turned out great for those who came, however, as people had room to actually dance this great music!
