Saludos Ivan, yes that technique was developed for snare practice,(drum-set),and it is called 'single paraddidles', it goes up to 'triple paraddidles'.

I have reviewed your posts on technique and overall knowledge previously severak times and I must say that I have always found what you've said to be very helpful and resourceful.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and knowledge with us "grasshoppers" in the world.

How can you play free and let the drum sing if you can't laugh at yourself? I'm sorry, but Gerry is allowed freely to share his horseshit which is absolutely not condusive to learning, so why can't ya'll allow me to express myself in a similar manner?

Someone's gives me poop, I give it right back to them.

You’re absolutely right. It would be of great benefit to me to just shut up and learn from zaragemca and JC as they contribute to the progress of mankind.

Humour and laughter is the spice of life!

Give it too much (on ones credit) it's not humurous and funny anymore, gets too hot, insulting or just plain rude.

Mr. NoChops -

bullshit here, bullshit there, bullshit bullshit everywhere,

joke here, joke there, joke joke joke everywhere

but first do it like:

respect here respect there, R-E-S-P-E-C-T everywhere!

Groove here, Groove there, Groovy people everywhere!

Saludos hermanos y hermanas del mundo de los tambores!

(I assume that you all, as congueros, do not mind my little greeting in Spanish)

I have a suggestion to make:

It is pretty obvious that Mr NoChops only wants to provoke and enjoys our reactions and getting all the attention he is, unfortunately, getting. He has abviously got a serious problem but this is hardly the place to solve it. So, why don't we all just ignore him. Let us all never reply to any of his questions or comments, which are certainly out of order and expressed in the wrong forum. Let us send him to Coventry! as they would call it in England, no more Mr NoChops!

What do you think?

Be all greeted!

Gemma

Gemma,

A question just for the sake of curiosity: you seem to speak spanish too... where are you from? why are you currently in Frankfurt?

I know this doesn't have anything to do with the original topic, but well, the last replies neither. :p

Gentelmen lets keep the site one that we do'nt have to read through a bunch of crap thats not productive to anyone. If you want to didilisquat go do it some where else .

I was taught that the correct way of doing this roll is hthththt . This is the authentic afrocuban technique .

Thanks carlos

Hey Ya'll,
Greetings from the sunny Gulf Coast. Please let's keep this valuable resource free of egotistical put-downs! No negativa! Now onto conga rolls. Of course there are so many ways to skin that cat, but back in Brooklyn the old Cuban guys always played it HTHT. At least that's the way I learned it.

Saludos,

Hola dvon,

Soy de Madrid y las muchas vueltas que da la vida me han hecho aterrizar en Frankfurt. (I'm from Madrid and the many twists and turns in life brought me to Frankfurt.) As Rubén Blades' Pedro Navaja would say:..."ssshhhorpressshhhassshhh te da la vida".... Although in my case my "sorpresas" were self-chosen, thus no surprises. We are the architects of our own life. Our fate might be decided the minute we are born, however, the way we get there is designed by ourselves. But all this has nothing to do with drumming anyway.

Be all greeted and keep those hands dancing on the drum heads!

Hola Gemma! I think "all this" has every thing to do with drumming. Which drum do you like to play? I find it interesting how much credit is given to the Afro-Cuban side of Cuban music and how little thought to the influence from Spain “la Madre Patria”.

Hasta luego

Back to HTHT rolls.... Am a sit-down conguero and found getting leverage for a HT roll attempt tricky. Don't quite know where on head surface should heel strike(?) A little help would allow me to smooth out this technique's practice before I get to far off course.
