Did you recently get the Zebra's? I saw a pair not too long ago on ebay. I wanted to buy them but I didn't have enough capital to splurge with. They undoubtedly look exotic. On my spring break trip to New York I saw quite a few acts in the subway. I didn't see or hear any Latin music but I enjoyed the acts. 3 ply? I struggled with one sheet, I can't imagine trying to work three sheets simultaneously. I wonder how that sounds!
Dice,
Is Latin music popular in London?

Sonerito, suena tu bongo'!

Mr. Conga wrote:Markito very nice martillo, nice playing, i like how loud that bongo got without a mike, sometimes i play with people playing electric guitar, and only bearly can hear the bongo if you pay attention to the music when we record.
Can anyone tell us how to mount x ray film, do u soak them in water like a cuero or what?![]()

To tuck it under the wire rim.
Does anybody know the prices on extra hoop flesh rims for bongosor congas from Cali-JCR, who else sells those?

I used to also see the "Emrays" X-Ray macho heads that came on the LP Matadors sold at Manny's in NYC.
They seemed to be two layers of dark blue film.
I recall seeing you in the subway once long ago, before we met.
Around that time, I saw Manny Oquendo playing these bongos with an X-Ray macho.
So I wanted to try it myself, using some taller lug nuts from JCR also.
It was hard to get the skin to wrap around the ring, so I warmed up the film
in the oven for about 2 minutes, which softens them up a bit, and then you have to work
fast before it cools downs again and gets hard and brittle.
I only used this on a Matador I specifically played with a loud electric band for about 2 years.
Nothing beats real skins, but I have some Remo headed bongos for damper weather.
