i understand that your bongos are rare & vintage, but $400+ for a set of second hand bongos that are sold "as is", i'd rather pay half of that for a new set of HR el piernas or 3A......
I don't usually do this so I am sorry for intervening. But your reasoning is not good.
"rare & vintage" Bongos of course there are going to be "used" otherwise they will be new Bongos.
"all sales are final" Are you afraid you might have to "repair something" again if they are "vintage" they are "old" and they may have or they could have problems in the future. If you want to purchase vintage instruments you should know what comes along with it.
Sure you can buy top of the line LP, Meinl, or Toca with their "factory warranty" "new strong hardware" "satisfaction guaranteed" etc. But of course they are not "vintage", any top of the line Bongos of these companies mentioned will cost you around $300. $400+ is not bad at all.
You can get "BRAND NEW" SOS, or Ritmo Bongos for more than $400, so I do not know why you will think Bongos of this kind will cost you less than that.
Just my 2 cents brother.
Take care
