Just to clear something up here, the Junior bongos that Elvis has for sale on Ebay are 100% authentic, made by Junior Tirado. They are not copies. Elvis is no newbie to this and has nothting to gain by trying to pass off a fake pair of Juniors.

The only bad thing about elvis bussiness are his out of the world prices and he nevers want to negotiate even if the instrument has a crack. I could get 2 Bongos for that price and have money left for some beer, wine and some fries :D

No negotiation need when you are buy quality and you want it .With this being said when you get some thing of quality it last longer and it cost you more .when you compare to cheap wine and beer that a poor man alcohol .Try conaque, no beer that gives you a belly and see the differance add a steak to the fries .After you try that tell me you want beer and wine and fries .Same when you buy a quality bongo, conga or timbales you can not compare to cheap stuff like LP,Toca,The new 3a to Junior , Matthew ,CP or even a caribbien percussion you pay for what you get.you get use to buying cheap you will always want cheap . buy quality and you will alway demand quality.

Juancho, That is so funny man :D :D

Sure, quality has a price, and the way to find the price is through good old fashioned negotiation.

Oye I enjoyed this post and congrats to Jacqui. From the pictures it seems the Requena's are not only smaller in circumference but they are taller, deeper, no? Not that I am looking to collect instruments or anything, just curious.

I found these two fotos in a Yahoo interest group, I think it was "the bongo group" (not as active or as interesting as CP.Com),
the owner of these bought them on Ebay... took off the broken skins (pic 1) and sanded them down (pic 2).
They look like the Requenas you just bought Jacqui.

People, I do not collect Bongos or put them on display, I use them to gig, rehearsal ect ,ect. So they need to be strong, not fancy. As to been cheap, no, is a matter of been practical................................

Collect was not meant to belittle anyone, especially you caballo que I've seen your gig section post. I must master the bongos I have now which are excellent but what these Requenas represent in sound tonality caught my attention.
