Thanks to the folks on this forum for advice of late. A new player, just received my Gon Bops Tumbao Pro set from Calif. Impressive and nice sounding right off the bat. Tickled and very much enjoying the start of this pleasure.

Al,

Congratulations! Good pick, IMO.

Within the $200 - $300 price range congas, the Gon Bops Tumbao Pro are, for me, my no. 1 pick.

All the best,

You will love them! They will sound better after they age a few months a little.....

Congatulations 8)

Are these the ones you got?

Or the dark red ones similar to California series?

Yes, the 'burnt toast finish'. They have a new home . . . . . .

You'll notice the old Kawai MIDI sequencer on the rack. Used for the most part for percussion tracks with a Motif synth below. Perhaps soon enough I'll be playing live recordings of my own percussion tracks to accompany myself on keys. But those abilities are miles between . . . . . . . . .

The quinto in the background is just that. Part of a good deal when purchasing all three drums, but right now concentrating on the conga alone (with the odd 'slap' of the tumbao).
