I was wondering if anyone had any information about the Matador Custom line. I see in the specs that they have the same size lugs but do the rims have the same guage metal. Also would the evans heads fit. The hardware looks alot like the Apires.

I've tried to email LP but it wouldn't go through

The custom are just as the regular Matador line (wich I have), except for the colors and that they come in set w/ stand. The hardware is made from a heavier gauge than Aspires (I have both). Their rims are LP Comfort Curve I. When LP designed the CCII for their top lines made the CCI standard on Matadors.

Matador are excellent drums for the giging muscian who is concerned about his/her budget. They also record very nicely. To me, Matadors sounds just like LP Classics.

About the Evans, I know the Remos designed for LPs fit them perfectly, so look for the Evans that fit LP's.

Hi there, new to the forum . . . prairie dog from Alberta, Canada . . . .

Was just checking into this very same question re: Matador vs Matador Custom. A fellow from LP contacted me to advise that in addition to the obvious hardware difference, that the Custom is 2-ply construction, while the regular Matador is 3-ply. At this stage of my learning, I'm not fully understanding of just how much of a difference this would make (I'm guessing a slightly 'lighter' sound?) . . . and perhaps at this stage it wouldn't even matter! I took a real liking to that vintage sunburst finish of the custom, but decided to go with the regular model. Do love the sound of the regular Matador. Living in the sticks, I don't have the opportunity to try a variety of drums to check things out first hand.

By the way, incredible forum you folks have and support here.

Hey fellow kanuck - welcome to the forum from the east coast.

Know nothing about the customs but for sure if I was new to playing I'd get a used set of matadors and slap some moperc skins on them.

Cheers
