Anyone got the hook up? Baby Bass for Salsa/Timba needed

Postby ABAKUA » Thu Apr 16, 2009 1:51 am

A close friend of mine and local in demand bass player asked me if I could run it passed some of you guys in the US to see if anyone had a hook up to a baby bass...
For use in Salsa/Timba bands.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? At the moment he is investigation one out of Colombia, but doesnt really trust the source... Price he was given was around $700 EURO, which works out to around $1,270.68 AUD (approx $928 USD) plus shipping/insurance etc.

So if anyone can help out, much appreciated.

I do not know much about Baby Basses, but have read some very good things about Ray Ramirez Basses from Puerto Rico especially for Latin music. They are more expessive than the one your friend is investigating currently though. Here is his website:

Watch our for RR BB. Maybe a Sendel BB (replica)from Colombia would be a better bet?

Marcelo,
Unfortunately no. I overheard some bajo players in a rehearsal a while back about the RR, and Sendel was brought up as a better instrument.

I found a forum here http://www.talkbass.com/forum/, maybe he can ask around?
