correct placement of three drums - what is the correct placement for 3 drums?

Is the correct placement for three drums rhythm dependent? What is generally accepted as the best locations for quinto/conga/tumba? Also, I have noticed that in some of Hidalgo Giovanni's instructional video tapes that he appears to use one tumba and two congas instead of the quinto/conga/tumba combination. Is this because the quinto is primarily used for soloing and is not necessarily used that much in three drum rhythms? Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Although I am not an expert on positioning the congas, I think there are several ways that make sense:

Quinto Conga Tumba
YOU = for the more traditional
setup, quinto for soloing


Conga 1
Conga 2 Tumba
YOU = which I find useful

BUT as far as I kno there are no fixed rules.
