I'm offering exquisite bongos to members of the forum first. I must cut down on the many bongos I have, to somehow get the wife off my back.
Photo 1- LP 1964 Maywood, NJ (labels) one of the first 10 made. Macho 71/4", after these 10, the macho became 7". Belonged to Juan Mendez, bongocero with Johnny Pacheco (Viva Africa LP). One of a kind, another one never to be found.
Photo 2- LP 1973 Palisades Park, incredible sound. Beautiful wood, new JCR on hembra. X-ray on macho.
Photo 3- Charlie Vega, all handmade in P. Rico. One of a kind P. Rican Cahoba wood. Never played outside the house. Brand new, incredible sound. C. Vega bongos played by Truco y Zaperoco and Gran Combo bongoceros.
If interested email me privately. Might consider just one interesting bongo for trade. Others must be sold, if not I go to the dog house.
The 1964 LP was made in Maywood, NJ., that's where M. Cohen lived, before the Palisades Park factory. He made 10 like this one, but Jose Mangual told him to make the macho 7" instead of 71/4", which this one has. The best thing that this one has is the 71/4" macho. The hardware is all original. I used to play conga in a guerrilla with Juan Mendez, Pacheco's bongocero back in the late 70's and I fell in love with this vintage LP, is very light weight and has a big sound. I have never seen one like it. Saludos, Dario
