These prices for Volcanos (not mentioning Koa Volcanos) are twice as much as my Isla congas and Gon Bops CA bongos. But, I'm not sure that they're twice as good, though! Absolutely no offense meant.

A Volcano owner must have a really special motivation for buying them. I'm very curious to know what it is.

Volcanos look really immaculate, though! No question about it.

Yeah Koa is kind of a rare and expensive wood, I know for ukelele's
Koa usually adds $100-$200 to the price.
It is one of the most beautiful woods, and is the best for ukuleles..

I'm not even talking about Volcano Koas which cost $1,999 and up with comfort crowns and $2,499 and up with traditional crowns! I'm talking about just "regular" Volcano Mangos which cost $699 and up with comfort crowns and $899 and up with traditional crowns.

Volcano Monkeypods or Monkeypod/Mango Alternates are $824 and up with comfort crowns and $924 and up with traditional crowns.

Bongo prices range from $324 to $799.

You're getting into Timba Percussion prices territory here, although Timba drums are nowhere near Volcano's quality.

all have made some very valid points about the cost vs. the sound vs. the value of these drums. it really boils down to what i have sad before; ya really have to want the drum, like the sound and look toward what you consider the long term value. granted, this is the opinion of only one person, but i guess i am not alone in this from what i have seen here. by no means do i consider one drum to be better than another nor one craftsman better then another, rare woods aside. there is just the desire to have and play something different pending the sacrafice to attain it.

see attached the curly koa w/o the pro shot - still impressive i think. as i have stated, the sound of these drums will benefit from a thicker skin, they ring a bit without said.

Is there a reason why you put the Volcanos on top of already other top-of-the-line boutique congas? Man, some people would kill just to have those congas underneath those Volcanos!

Do you have some sort of pecking order? The most expensive ones on top? :;): :laugh:
