Gulp! :;): :D

These prices for Volcanos (not mentioning Koa Volcanos) are twice as much as my Isla congas and Gon Bops CA bongos. But, I'm not sure that they're twice as good, though! Absolutely no offense meant. :D

A Volcano owner must have a really special motivation for buying them. I'm very curious to know what it is. :D

Volcanos look really immaculate, though! No question about it. :D

Yeah Koa is kind of a rare and expensive wood, I know for ukelele's
Koa usually adds $100-$200 to the price.
It is one of the most beautiful woods, and is the best for ukuleles..

I'm not even talking about Volcano Koas which cost $1,999 and up with comfort crowns and $2,499 and up with traditional crowns! I'm talking about just "regular" Volcano Mangos which cost $699 and up with comfort crowns and $899 and up with traditional crowns.

Volcano Monkeypods or Monkeypod/Mango Alternates are $824 and up with comfort crowns and $924 and up with traditional crowns.

Bongo prices range from $324 to $799.

You're getting into Timba Percussion prices territory here, although Timba drums are nowhere near Volcano's quality.

all have made some very valid points about the cost vs. the sound vs. the value of these drums. it really boils down to what i have sad before; ya really have to want the drum, like the sound and look toward what you consider the long term value. granted, this is the opinion of only one person, but i guess i am not alone in this from what i have seen here. by no means do i consider one drum to be better than another nor one craftsman better then another, rare woods aside. there is just the desire to have and play something different pending the sacrafice to attain it.

see attached the curly koa w/o the pro shot - still impressive i think. as i have stated, the sound of these drums will benefit from a thicker skin, they ring a bit without said.

You question my motives?? :p

Charangaman explained it well in another post!

To quote:
"When I was 14, I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend.

When I was 16, I got a girlfriend, but there was no passion, so I decided I needed a passionate girl with a zest for life.

In college, I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional. Everything was an emergency; she was a drama queen, cried all the time and threatened suicide. So, I decided I needed a girl with stability.

When I was 25, I found a very stable girl but she was boring. She was totally predictable and never got excited about anything. Life became so dull that I decided that I needed a girl with some excitement.

When I was 28, I found an exciting girl, but I couldn't keep up with her. She rushed from one thing to another, never settling on anything. She did mad, impetuous things and made me miserable as often as happy. She was great fun initially and very energetic, but directionless.

So, I decided to find a girl with some real ambition.

When I turned 31, I found a smart, ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground and married her. She was so ambitious that she divorced me, and took everything I owned.

Now, I am much older and wiser, . .

so I am looking for a girl with really, big tits. "

So you see, now I have Volcano drums ....

congalero,

Is there a reason why you put the Volcanos on top of already other top-of-the-line boutique congas? Man, some people would kill just to have those congas underneath those Volcanos! :D

Do you have some sort of pecking order? The most expensive ones on top? :;):

BONGO,

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT,

YOUR COMMENTARY IS NOT AT ALL CONVINCING.

REMEMBER, RUMBEROS DON'T PARTICULARLY LIKE RINGING FROM A DRUM. BUT, CONGEROS ON THE OTHER HAND, MIGHT ACTUALLY PERFER IT.

CONGEROS,
MIGHT FAVOR THE SOUND OF:
LP, TOCA, MEINL, TIMBA, AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH YOUR OPINION VOLCANO DRUMS.

RUMBEROS ON THE OTHER HAND, WOULD ALMOST SURELY PREFER THE SOUND OF: ISLA-PERCUSSIONS, JUNIOR TIRADO'S DRUMS, "CALIFORNIA SERIES" GON-BOPS, MATTHEW SMITHS, FAT CONGAS, AND SKIN ON SKINS.

CONGEROS,
COME IN MANY BREEDS.

BUT RUMBEROS, ARE ON THE SAME PAGE, MOST OF THE TIME. THERE IS NO HIGHER, MORE TIME HONERED, HAND DRUMMER'S MOVEMENT, THAN A RUMBERO'S, RUMBA!

A TRUE RUMBERO CAN PLAY ANYTHING A CONGERO CAN.

BUT PLACE A STANDARD CONGERO IN A RUMBA, AND CHANCES ARE, HE WILL BE REPLACED AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY; UNTIL HE CAN JUST SIT IN AND PLAY.

THERE'S NO GUESSING, NO FAKING, ETC.

YOU EITHER KNOW THE PARTS TO PLAY, OR YOU DON'T; AND IF YOU DON'T, JUST KNOW THIS. DON'T TAKE IT PERSONAL, BUT BE READY TO GIVE UP THE DRUM AND SEAT THAT YOU ARE USING, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT GOING TO STOP A JAM, FOR DRUM SCHOOLING PURPOSES.

SO WHEN RUMBEROS, TALK ABOUT CONGAS, OTHER RUMBEROS KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY MEAN; AND TRUST ME, I LOVE GOOD LOOKS, BUT MOST OF THE TIME A RUMBERO WON'T EVEN LOOK AT A DRUM IN DETAIL UNTIL HE HAS PLAYED IT, AND OR HAS HEARD IT. IT'S LIKE HAVING BLINDERS ON. SO, IF IT SOUNDS RIGHT, THEN IT'S TIME TO LOOK IT OVER IN DETAIL :D

RUMBEROS, KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING, WHILE CONGEROS MIGHT HAVE A REBUTAL OF SORTS. BUT REMEMBER, IT'S ALL GOOD, AND EVERYONE WALKS HIS OWN PATH :

I'M A RUMBERO,
RESPECTFULLY,
CHARLIE "EL COQUI" VERDEJO
