Would varnishing the insides of wood congas help the sound?....as was the case in some earlier gretsch drumsets...silver painted inside Trying to squeeze a few more drops of sound out of a set of Aspires...

Some have said that the extra glue on the insides of the stave seams on mass-produced conga's might be contributing to ringing. I'd be careful.

I would save the time and the effort on the Aspires... thos drums are aptly named......after you get them you "aspire" for something better ! Seriously though, not worth the effort.
