Fed, They are looking good! Nice light brown with an orangeish tint...just like you wanted. Are you gonna put a clear coat on? (spray poly etc...??) If so, i would recommend several coats and then getting a buffing wheel to buff the heck out of it.

PS-Are these bad boys gonna be ready by June 30th? I'm excited! :D

Oz, Yes the project was on hold. It was just cold in the basement and I didn't want to stink the living room. Definitely post your pics ...

Sakuntu, they are not actually brown/orange at all. But that's ok, they came out nice. You will see when you are here. I am not doing anything else, the finish I put on is poly and dye in one, so nothing else is needed. I don't know if it will hold up to use but I put three coats so will see. They should be ready by next week. I put the skin on the smaller one already and soaking the other one right now. With the Classics I bought from Dario I should have all the congas I'll ever need... whoo-hoo :D

Over all I am happy with the color, not exactly what I had in mind, but I was pleasantly surprised... kind of sophisticated ... here is a lighter pic

I have been playing these for 2 days now. Skins seem to be dry now. I like the skins, they feel better then water buffalo. These drums are 10 and 11 but they sound good and the wood is almost twice the thicknes of my Aspire drums. They sound better to me then Aspires but Aspires not to far behind with mule skins. Tunning helps.

anyway I enjoy them and since I put so much effort into refinishing and all they feel even better to me...
