I will post some more pics soon, I just haven't been taking them out for giggin' in a while, hell with the amount of weight they have, I pretty much keep them here at home to practice on!

So how are things with you Abure Abakua?

All is well my brother from another mother.

Still co-directing the 11 piece salsa dura band I told you about last time, also started a project with my girlfriend, its mostly RnB/Funk with some latin touches, feels like Beyonce/Mary J Blige/Cristina Aguilera/J-Lo etc... All original material. Pretty cool, its in its infancy still though. Working on completing her solo album also. Currently adding some more tracks and mixing.
I was also recently approached by this Cuban world reknowned master dancer and sonero who is also a good friend of mine. He is a former member of Yoruba Andabo y es Abakua.
After travelling the globe as a choreographer, singer etc he is now happily married and living in Australia, he has set up a professional studio where he teaches all the Afro Cuban folklore dances as well as rueda, casino, salsa/son etc...
Well anyway, we are forming a new band together, have 7 original songs for now, the rest of the material to start working immediately is from Manolito Y Su Trabuco, Los Van Van, Paulito FG, Reve, Charanga Habanera, and many more. Looks promising so far. Cant wait to get this baby out there and kicking butt!! All first class musicans with tremendo afinque and sabor, puro sentimiento.

Hope all is well with you Abure.

Now get some pics up of them heavy ass congas!
PS, make sure you get the pics with natural light, ie out in the open air!

Alafia Abure Bongobilly!
Espero que todo este bien contigo!

Abakua and I both had this discussion a while back when we both had our sets of Palladiums, I don't actually remember the exact weight I got, but I think it was around 47lbs +.

Chacho! Those damn things are like tanks, too heavy and in my opinion, IMPRACTICAL for the working musician. I only took them out to a few gigs, everyone went crazy over them (the refinished version of them that is). I don't regret having them, I just wished they (LP) would have put a bit more thought into them as far as making them practical. I can't imagine NY musicians hauling those tubs up a flight and down a flight of stairs to a gig or more in one evening. Que Va!

Suave!
