The sound demo has been suggested to the right Pearl people...Is a good idea. Let's see what happens! Hey, I don't buy by looks, I too buy by the sound!

The new Pearl Folkloric Congas and bongos sounded great at NAMM and everybody loved them. (Even the competition liked them and practically everybody went to check them out). The big thing and everybody said the same thing are the factory heads...The heads are to be different than the regular Pearl heads and they are a big key here!

For those wondering, the Richie Flores??? Well, I personally liked the tilo green and the designs but some people do not. (I had a set of bongos until they were stolen)...A "darker color" version is coming. (Don't know what color...the mayan-aztec-taino designs will remain)...Nevertheless, they sound great too and the requinto is a killer...(They are actually the same regular Pearl Elites, no alterations here besides the color and design).

Saludos!

I checked out the Pearl site and the new folkloric congas do look nice and it will be interesting to hear how they sound so hopefully they will put some sound clips up but what I was really excited about was that Pearl will have a Cata available. I have been looking for one for a long time.

I have for Sale now on eBay, ( 02/24/06)
an 11" Pearl Bobby Allende Series Quinto.
It's used 1 month , but in excellent condition
-one minor scratch, hard to notice.
Sounds great but all my other drums
are wood - sound doesn't match.
Not too heavy but a powerful sound
Great for easier volume on stage
and a very elegant & understated design ~ ISAAC ~

Jongo,

The sound of the cata from Pearl is great! You get the cata and the sticks that could be used as "clave" also. (That is what I think...).

In the short video they have in the regular Pearl news section for the NAMM convention, I am the one playng the cata....

Saludos!

Hey Raymond, I saw that video and it was very good. I just wish it had been longer. Those new congas sound good, I am interested in hearing some other sound clips of them. Hey somewhere on there I also saw a picture of you and Ray Barretto. I'll bet that was a big honor to meet him, he was and will always be a great conguero!

Yo
Wsup conga junkies!

I recently saw a set of these congas(not sure the sizing, 3 drums) at Sam Ash. Seemed like a great deal,$600. I like them alot, Beatiful finish, eye catching but not over the top. Like some of their others. I'm also a fan of the Remo Fiberskyns. My congas live in my basement, so the temp. and humidity are always fluctuating so the fiberskyns save me alot of hassle. I know you all don't agree. Anyway the Pearls seemed very tonal and melodic and well made.
The hardware Pearl uses seems to be heavy.
I think Pearl makes some of the best beginner congas too. It seems to me their begginer hardware is alot heavier than the other brands. I was surprised. Hope this makes sense to you all.
