I seriously doubt that you will be able to take the drums on the plane and just import them like that. Taking them through customs like that can end up costing you a fortune in taxes and stuff.
Let me know if you want more info on the German deal.

The friend of mine, who is working at SAS can "fix" me free feight. He get spesial deals.
Well, I have to pay tax (25%), but anyhow it will be much, much cheaper than buying in Norway.
Where in Germany did you buy your Patatos? Are you satisfied with them?

Hej!
Paid 1000€ for my Patatos (conga and tumba) including shipping to Denmark.
Sorry man, but it will not be "much, much" cheaper for you to buy LP drums in the US. The list prices are around 1500$ for a set of conga and tumba. Lets say you get a good deal - maybe around 900 - 1000$, you will still have to add the 25% tax when you go back to Norway.
On top of this, these are really heavy drums (around 13-14 kg. each) You will need heavy bags for the drums to make sure they are not damaged during the trip, making them a killer to carry around on the street, in the airport etc.
My advice to you would be to think this through before you end up paying the same (or more!) for a set of drums - going through a lot of trouble for nothing.
If you want another brand that doesn't ship to Europe, of course that’s a whole different story, and you will of course have to import them yourself.
Send me a PM and I will hook you up with the German music shop. I'm sure I can get you the same deal I got.
De bedste hilsener

Now you just have to wait for them to arrive (and not to haul them around all the way from NY to Norway, as you planned)!
Have fun with your tubs!
All the best Tom!
Ps: Altough they are very nice to us male percussionists at Drummersworld, I don't think that they are gay :;)::laugh:
