Master Hand percussionist Specializing in Afro~Caribbean, Afro~Brasilian & Jazz percussion Obi is a performer and clinician with extensive experience & studies in the art of world percussion & the many cultural origins & influences from which contemporary rhythm is derived. His exploration of the world through rhythm brings a greater understanding of the changing world around us. He has performed with numerous Jazz and world music ensembles including Latin Jazz, African & Middle Eastern Dance & other cultural projects. His first solo CD "Jaguar's Masquerade received international recognition & airplay in the US and abroad & his second solo CD "en Alguna Parte" has just been released. An avid activist for cultural acceptance & equality, Mr. Kaye actively pursues & promotes programs of tolerance & awareness, especially those geared toward children & young adults. A self proclaimed "backyard anthropologist", Obi has seen & addresses the need in our communities for further growth & support of intra~community development, a need which can be nurtured through the arts. It is through the music, dance &, art that a culture or society may express itself. When language barriers bar the ability to communicate on the level of intellect, it is the artistic expression which communicates through emotion. This is the grounds on which we may all realise, we are one.
