Any info on by3A percussion ?

Postby Chtimulato » Tue Jan 10, 2017 1:42 pm

Hi everybody.

It's all in the title : I just purchased on line (on a second hand site) a bongó of this brand, which is supposed to be delivered in the next days.

I just know it was a Columbian brand, and that it's now out of business. I can remember I noticed some links on the web, a few years ago (2009 ? 2010 ?), but can't find anything anymore.

Does anybody know something more about the brand ?

Of course, I'll post some pics when they arrive.

Thank you in advance.

Hi.

I woke up smarter this morning, and could so answer to myself : "Browse this forum, you lazy bones !".

That's what I did then, and found some information...

No, not yet, but it's a matter of days now. The seller sent it, but declared by mistake a wrong weight (too light) to the post office, so the parcel has been returned to her. Since I had to pay a little bit more, I tried a second Paypal transfer, which got stuck because I had to confirm my credit card, and which can last up to 2 working days. I asked then a colleague of mine to do the transfer (a ridiculous amount, 20 €) as I gave him the cash, and it's on hold since friday... And it can also take 2 working days to get transfered... Such things make me laugh when I see them in movies...

I suppose it will be unfreezed (or should I type "unfrozen", excuse my english) tomorrow or tuesday, she will then send them and I could receive them at the end of the week. I'll post pictures then.

Saludos, have this set the black Widower since 2009, no cracks or staves becoming loose. Made of rose wood.

Thanks for the pic, caballoballo. I saw it when I browsed this forum for more info. Are you still happy with them ?
"Mine" look similar, though a little bit older and more used. The seller told me they measured 7,5" and 9". Since she allready removed the ad, I can't post a link here.

I'm still waiting, the seller's got to send a complaining mail to PayPal... "asap"...

The one I have is 7.25 x 8 5/8. They are very comfortable to hold seated, not too heavy at all. The Hembra has a beautiful mellow tone. :D

Thanks for the answer.

I was just able to unlock/unfreeze my PayPal account, just a few minutes ago.

I now have to wait till she goes to the post office.

Hi, the brand was property of Alejandro Arce, a musician from Cali Colombia,I think he wasn't a manufacturer, I´m almost sure the drums were made for him by CP Colombian Percussion under Alejandro's specifications in a single piece "vaciados" usually from a wood called flor morado. The main reason because they went out of business was because of their price, they were very expensive compared with other brands from Colombia.

Hi and thanks for the answer.

They didn't arrive yet, I'm still waiting, and now almost considering cancelling the deal and reporting a litigation at Paypal's.

BTW, and just out of curiosity : since I consider refurbishing them, (if I ever receive them...) is the brand logo on the shell a label or a sticker, or is it engraved in the shell ?

"Mine" look like caballoballo's : same colour, same shell design.

And "BTW twice", dcallesa, are you satisfied with them ?

Hi Chtimulato, the name is painted behind the varnish, those from the photo are not mine, they belonged to a friend of mine who sold them. Only once I saw one pair in person and honstly I didn't liked them too much, the ones that I saw had some flaws and minor craks in the wood, but I know that people who have them like them.
