If you are on a low budget....army duffle bags do the trick, just pad with some foam and you are in.
You can find them in a army surplus store.

Derbeno & Mike,

Thank you both for the info. I know that Meinl bags have thick padding. It probably would have been easier for me to decide to keep them if only they had wheels.

Bengon,

Thanks for the info. I'm actually considering buying a Kaces bag kind of soon--not a conga bag, but a hardware bag.

I just read your reply. Thanks for the info.
The beato case sounded like a good alternative since I know the Gators don't work for the Volcano. Yet, I would have to ask them if they make a 32" bag (or a bit bigger) since the drum is exactly that height.
At this point, I think I'm gonna run with your handtruck idea! It's definitely the cheapest one.

Thanks again.

6x8,

You're quite welcome! The pleasure is mine.

Re: portable handtruck, check out the Magna Cart Personal Handtruck. It has a 150-lb. carrying capacity and costs between $30 to $50.

Here are Hermon bags. I think are made in Mexico. Very nicely padded and very soft inside. I like them because of the way the congas load into the bag. You just lay the drum in, zip up, grab the handles and go. No wheels but nice bags. A student of mine who has a brother that owns a store here in Chicago turned me on to these.

Thanks brother, yep Protection Racket cases are the best Ive used in all my years.
Very very well priced in stores affiliated to the maker. For those guys who are finding them expensive, try to approach the correct distributor in your area and prices will surprise you.

I will take some detailed pics of my set later tonight and post them up.

Can you lis the stores affiliated to them pllease..
any online stores ?

i have noticed most online stores such as, musiciandfriend.com , samash.com , guitarcenter.com
all carry the same brands, and almost identical prices of the bags, but i havent seen some of the more underground name bags available out there, that turn to have very steardy material, and thick padding for excellent material.

Where abouts in the US are you located? I know there official distributors of Protection Racket are in Northridge, California, but they do have other stores which sell them at reasonable cost. Maybe I can point you in the right direction for pricing. Also bongosnotbombs seems to have found an online source at a fair price, try contacting him to see what he was quoted.
These bags retail here for around $100-$110 (AUS dollar alot less that US dollar.) So they in theory should be around the $80 mark or less perhaps in the US.

I just googled "Protection Racket conga cases" and got a bunch of hits for places advertising the carry bags in the $70-80 USD range.

Mr. Conga,

Unless you prefer bags with wheels (like I do), at $70 - $80, you can't go wrong with Protection Racket bags, IMO. As I've mentioned before, they have excellent materials and the only ones (I think) that come with sheepskin-like interior padding which doubles as protection from scratches.

I'm actually considering getting their percussion bag for my various hand percussion instruments.

Besides, I kinda like the name Protection Racket. It's a pun and quite clever.
