Chapo, Titos Top percussion is great stuff, I cut my teeth on alot of that. especially Ti Mon Bo.

Amma McKen apkwon, with Skip Burney on Iya, Puntilla on congas, also with Larry Washington, Kehinde Baker Fann, Emilio Barreto, Olufemi Mitchell and others. Beautiful bata/guiro recording, mostly African American musicians, just out from NYC.
Los Ases (Aces) de la Timba
Pedro Pablo bass, Mandy Cantero, Tirso Duarte, and Michel Maza singing, with Jorge Torres "Papiosko" on congas. Great timba, with singers taken from several top timba bands in Cuba.
Los Naranjos de Cienfuegos
Mi son tiene piel morena
Outstanding son group from Cienfuegos. When I saw them in Cuba in 1990, one of the musicians was 86 and had been playing with the group for 70 years!
Pupy y los que Son Son
Mi Timba Cerra
El Buenagente
2 great timba recordings, bien sabrosos, some of the coros will hook you.
Los Rumberos de Cuba
Habana de mi Corazon
Rumba/guarapachangueo, some songs are a little too busy in the percussion, others (El Profanador) are killer guarapachangueo de cajones. Great young singer Jesus Lorenzo Peñalver "Cusito".
Mayito Rivera
Llego la Hora
Fantastic salsa/timba from Mayito. Check out the beautiful interaction between Samuel Formell on trap drums and Papacho on congas on Musica and Llego la Hora, a new sound.

Tonio,
Culo e' puya is an Afro-Venezuelan drum. Known also as Tambores Redondos. Very popular in Barlovento and Curiepe areas of Venezuela.

Hey guys,
I just finished listening to a beautiful solo from Mongo Santamaria on a tune called Tumbao from the album, Latino con Cal Tjader on the Fantasy label. The solo is not complex or flashy but it is sweeeet! Great tune for practicing. Highly recommended.

Ray Barreto, a Son Montuno name Invitacion Al Son. I love that slow tempo while playing Bongos because every filling has to be on a precise point & of a certain lenght.

Isaac Delgado's "En Primera Plana rarely leaves the CD player. Also listening to one of my bands performance recordings.
New Orleans style brass bands, too- like Youngblood Brass Band. Check out their cover of Michael Jackson's "Human Nature."
Also, received my DVD's of Juan Carlos Alfonso y su Dan Den from descarga.com. Check out their album,"Pasion." I like the cut "Aprende Que No Soy Eterno ."
