Vaya Vinnie! Congratulations bro those look real nice. I got the same setup ( quinto, conga, tumba ). I love all three but Right now Im mainly using the quinto and conga for a folkloric rumba sound when playing two. I switch back and forth. That quinto is small but it has a good range in my opinion. Even the bass on it sound pretty good for its size. The more you play them the better they get. You'll love those skins too. I play my friends aspires when we play outside and when I get home I have a little session with the Islas and they feel like hand therapy. Peace

I chose canoe wood for it's warm traditional folkloric sound. It is a very earthy sound. Thanks Guys I am in love with them.

Aptly as shown Mario and Isla Percussions is at the top.
Mario's depth of passion is unspeakable. I picked these babies yesterday. I only spoke to him a few times about what I was looking for, and he totally blew me away. I think my search is over!!
The sound from Marios congas are exceptional !!

Without the bands they resemble classic valje's, the body shape looks similar in those photos, very beautiful drums. Something I often wondered as i own Valje and Matthew Smiths (with and without) is do the bands actually have a function or are they purely a look ?
