I'm pretty sure most people here are players first, collectors by chance. Sometimes you run across a set of drums that just can't be passed up.

Can we confirm that these are solid and not made of staves PR?

Twins - some of us play lots, others are seriously into collecting, so... not sure of the point... Dario layed out a nice plan to get them into playable condition.

If you tighten these pups up, you will damage the shell. They need horse and cow/mule, and for the hardware to be beefed up.

Im looking forward to hearing if they are solid. If so, they may not be cedro. Mahogany perhaps?

PR, any more closeups showing the grain?

Also Candido Requena was the bongocero of Alberto Ruiz's Kubavana Orquestra,he started making bongos at that time...but who was the guy which introduce him into the Bongo making and also in the articulations in the bongo/playing?..Dr. Zaragemca

The bongos actually had a brand name "solis" I had a set of them that still had the original sticker from havana, using only select cure dried etc.!! Nice sounding drums, but quite a bit smaller than today's bongos.

Solis was a music store in Havana were Requena had his bongos sold. Requena's bongos had a Solis label on the inside with the address and phone number of the music store.

Well the one with got Requena and several others in the bongo making and bongo articulation was a percussionists with belong to a long dynasty...Oscar Sotolongo,(which was the second bongocero of Sexteto Habanero in the 1920). I have the opportunity to know about this dynasty becouse Alfredo and Armandito Sotolongo where percussionists and bataleros,(they played in the comparsa,La Bollera,which is my barrio,'Los Sitios' Comparsa.Dr. Zaragemca

Requena bongos were staves. Vergara bongos were one solid piece Cahoba wood.

que pasa dario julito de aca de ft worth texas. do you have any history on the osiris bongo. thta i have. i think i posted a picture long time ago. i have never seen one of this bongos anywhere. i heard from this other guy that osiris uset to work with cali and natalio in the bronx.i really don't know what i have. it is a solid one piece bongo. let me know. or if somebody else in the forum know, give me a hint..repica los cueros
