I do not know why Punta and the Garifunas are not mention that much as Cumbia, Rumba, Samba, etc. I am not from Honduras but at least here where I live in Maryland, USA Punta is widely known for almost all latinos and even played at the Latin Clubs (Commercial Punta). Everybody dance it or at least try to. It is a very cool rhythm that comes from the Diaspora left in that region of Central America. Their music have evolve and made into modern band or assembles as happened with the music of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Rep. Brasil, and many others but it has not have that recognition as a "Music Style" like Son, Cumbia, Merengue, Samba and many others of course. You guys remember of have heard of "Sopa de Caracol" well I heard it when I was little in my country it was a hit and nobody and I mean nobody knew it was call PUNTA until I came to USA and meet other people.
I want to know why is that, how it can change, what do you guys know about it, is any DVD or Book about their Playing and/or Music, even in youtube there is not that many videos of actually guys playing their Music and/or individual parts.
here are some cool videos that I found check them out specially if you have not heard or DANCE Punta is a nice worked out, I remember a few years ago when I was single dancing with a couple of nice female Hondurans friends Punta and man is HOT and HARD
