Hi King Conga,

Thanks for your comments!!! I'll update once I finish the drum.

Yes, those are oak staves from two old "Toneles" (rum barrels) I aquired at the Bacardi Factory in Cataño, Puerto Rico for $5.00 each.

Hola Charlie,

Espero que el video les sirva de referencia e inspiración para que en algún momento puedan construir sus propios tambores.

Thanks for the feedback guys!!!

It sounds great, it has a very low deep Buleador sound, just the way I like it.

I have more wood available to make a Primo sometime soon.

Great job!!! Did you also make that hardware yourself? It looks different.

Thanks King Conga!!!

The inner flesh rim and the top tuning hoop were made by a friend of Bombero Angel Fuentes from Chicago.

I did cover the top tuning hoop with 1/4 Poly Braided rope, "Boricua" style comfort rim.

The plates you see are regular LP batá side plates and the tuning lugs are regular LP conga lugs.

See pictures below...

Wow it really came out nice. I'm looking to build one myself.
If you don't mind me asking how did you come up with the dimension of the frame you built the barrel around?
