Nice one! Aspirina fam got some big respect in Havana, legacy goes way back.
I was fortunate to spend some time with Aspirina senior while they were in Syd. with Bar de Buena Vista, played rumba all day n night with them
Also got to catch up with Adonis n crew while in Havana, some very talented brothers. That clip was while they were doing a series of workshops in Europe where Aspirinas grand daughter lives with her husband Chris (who shot all the clips)
Here is a clip from Saturday night. A local music enthusiast put the clip together. I had a gig on congas with 13 piece project called El Orqueston de Tina, we cover music from Los Van Van, Reve, Pupy, Havana D'Primera, Sur Caribe, Dan Den, and more. In between the sets we performed a rumba to break up the night.
Here is "Maria Belen" a Yambu, we perform a version covered by Yoruba Andabo (originally played on cajon and with son clave) we felt it sounded more melodic and 'full' on congas and with rumba clave. We got one rehearsal in a few days before the show.
Im on Quinto. (Matt Smith requinto) my bro Tonio on Salidor (my Cuban hand made solid shell super tumba) and Adrian on Tres Golpes (my LP Gio conga with mule skin)
Fabian on lead vocals is actually a drummer/timbalero who stepped up last minute to cover lead vocals after our original guy had to pull out last minute.
