??? hello guys
here is and idea!!! ( maybe it was suggested before. i don't know, i'm kind of a new menber still ). but, anyways, here goes, what about organizing a yearly congaplace congress. that will be held in different cities every year. that way everyone would get a chance to host it. may be; we can do it by regions, like the san francisco bay area would be one & los angeles anotherone and so on and so fourth.

hope you like the idea.

Seems like the idea did get presented at one point. It's a fine idea, but people are generally limited to certain sections of the country, or countries depending on your budjet, travel plans, and where you live.
Last year I joined the gathering that Tyko put together in the Bay area... That was really cool, and I would love to join that one again this summer! It's nice to have it right before the Humboldt workshops.. I'd also like to add a stop this year in Seattle either before or after with Johnny -theman- Conga and get some lessons from him as well..

The way I like to do it is make a giant road trip of it and take a month to visit folks on the West Coast path during the summer.

Probably most people can't do anything like that with regularity,, it's just my own situation..

Some of the guys on the list already have their favorite people to play with and are more of a teacher and professional, than jammer and seaker of knowledge. It might be difficult to get them to come out for something like this, but it shouldn't stop folks that want to expend a little energy to reach out to those who are willing to join a gathering..

I think that this kind of thing, where you use your computer BB to connect with other folks that share your interest or love, then GO and SEE THEM IN REAL LIFE is the best use of a computer BB!
So yeah!! DO IT!!!

Last year's gathering in the Bay was AWESOME!!! :D

Yeah, last year's meet was a lot of fun, and I am still associating with people I met there, I met windhorse there, and blango who I just bought skins from,

it does seem like there are a lot of members here in the Bay Area

NAMM is a yearly event that gives instrument makers and instrument companies a chance to show case their instruments and products. artist that sponsor these companies are usually present.

I'm thinking of going to this one in CA before Humboldt.

It's early June..
Anybody else interested? I think it'd be more fun with a faction of Latin players rather than being the only one of a handful.

No, never been. I saw an add for it last year on another list, and decided it would probably be a little low level,, but for some chilling and a laid back sort of scene it might be fun if some of us went!

:) dave. it looks good!! i think this is a good choice: is not too far away and give us time to gather more troops. I'm for it. lets start a poll, like the other brother suggested and see how many can make it.
