It's a summer night in Sydney. The basement is the place to be. Abukua, Pidoca and Abukua's Mrs wait in anticipation. We can hardly talk, as we talk to each other we look over each others shoulders to the front door. Is it Anga, No. somebody else walks in, we look, na that couldn't be him. we keep talking.

hey what's that guy doing over by the congas, doesn't he know who is playing tonight? We get ready to rumble him. Oh &^#%$* it's Anga.

He walked straight past us and we didn't recognise him. He is larger than life, As you will see by the pics.

We listen to rehearsal, 100 digital photos later we are all chatting like best friends. The whole band and Abukua and me. What a night. 200 digital photos later he has blown our minds. Just let me say,

THIS GUY WE KNOW AS ANGA, IS NOT A CONGA PLAYER!!!! HE IS A PERCUSSIONIST. HE IS THE REAL DEAL.

Talk about 5 way coordination, each four limbs are going for it and he sings.

But for now let's enjoy the show.

GOD BLESS

Yo! Papa!
So what is this? You tease us with this one pic, dude that's not only mean, that's wrong :p

I'm waiting in great anticipation for the rest of the pics! But 'till then, tell us some more Pidoca!

I'm glad you all got to enjoy the evening with Anga, I've always heard that he's very personable, friendly and willing to share. What was your take on him? other than the "illusive" description you teased us with above!

Many blessings my brother!
Onile!

As ONline said, ANga is down to earth. The whole Band is.

Anga has just finished sound check, and he is walking towards Abakua and myself. He gets cornered by these two show ponies who call themselves percussionists. I guess you had to see them.

I don't mean to judge, But I think there is a difference between people who respect the heritage of the tumbas and those who play because it's cool or to pick up. But any way I digress.

He just wants to relax and feel comfortable, meet some people that treat him as a human, not an idol. He is very professional in all his dealings. He chated to them, posed for photos etc.. and them finally he can get away, his face told a thousand words.

So there we are, Abualua, myself, Anga chatting away about nothing really, just passing time like old friends. I chatted to the bass player who is Portuguese, Abukua is kicking back with Anga. Because we all speack similar languages, Portuguese, spanish, etc.... It sort of cut out other people cuttin in and interupting. WE even showed photos of our kids to each other. how cool is that.

Oh, it's time for the band to get ready, people are coming in, NO, people are packing it in. Sardines really. Shoulder we stand, those with money sit and eat and spend $300 on the yellow stuff.

But hey, the shows about to start.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce Miguel Anga Diaz; and the other guys in the band, forget their names, Cause we are he for....
