I just bought Anga's new album entitled "Echu Mingua". This is one of the best CD's I've bought in a while. Anga calls this album a union of Cuban, African, and DJ cultures. I can't stop playing this disc.
I listen to at work: Sonora Poncena , Ray Barretto , Cal Tjder, El Gran Combo , Fania All-Stars ,Poncho Sanchez ,Eddie Palmieri , Hector Lavoe,Sade, The Police , EWF,Tower of Power,AWB,Fourplay,Santana,Tito Puente,Ruben Blades.
RIGHT NOW IT'S CUBAN CARNIVAL BY PUENTE. YESTERDAY WAS BOBBY RODRIGUEZ AT WOODSTOCK. THE DAY BEFORE THAT WAS CACHETE MALDONADO Y LOS MAJEDEROS. NEXT WILL BE SOME CESAR PEDROSO, EL BUENAGENTE. AND THEN I'LL GO BACK TO SOME CELIA JOHNNY AND EL CONDE.

Oye abakua, when did azucar negra live in habana come out? I'd love to get ahold of a copy of that! Andar andando HAS to be one of the best produced and recorded timba albums of all time. My favorite timba band by far.
Other than that too much pop and rock in espanol (keeps us working here in Houston!)
ralph wrote:A recording by the name of "CHANGUI", recorded live on a rooftop in Guantanamo, Cuba, i believe...with Changui de Guantanamo and Estrellas Campesinas...very good stuff....
I've got that one, pretty cool. If you want to hear some good changui and other jams from the eastern part of the island check out Ban Rarra. Super cool stuff. PC
While I was in Venezuela I came across some Fania All Stars CD's that I have not seen here in the US so I bought 2 and I have been listening to those. In memory of Ray Barretto I have been listening to him about every day.
Like MCO I have been listening to Echu Mingua by Anga, its awsome and really grows on you. Cant wait to see for the man himself doing his Echu Mingua project in London in April, its in a much bigger place than in Sydney, Abakua and Pidoca you are very fortunate to have got some time with him.
