Abakua.. I teach my students the same lessons. You NEED "afinque".."mazacote"....speed and chops is just a plus...but if you have no groove or foundation to work from...it won't work .....My 3 congas..."JC" Johnny Conga... :D

Alafia Abures!
I hope that you are all well and in an abundance of blessings!

Abure Abakua!
I agree whole heartedly with Abure JC!, sin afinque no'ay na!

Great job in describing the solo principal as you did, it made such wise sense that it should help anyone in their development of their percussive vocabulary!

Adelante!

Onile!

p.s. Abure JC! Como estan las cosas contigo?
How's the DVD coming along?
Que Nsambi les acutare pa' siempre!

Abakua,
thanks for your well and complete explanation.i understood!!! if i am not wrong ''afinque'' means staying in clave and in time with the basics when playing with the other musicians. at first i thought you meant by introduction, ussually in the intro., lets say in the first eight bar of the solo to be simple with your chops. using quarter note and eight note, then in the midsection picking up with eighth note and sixteen notes and beyond with your chops and then back to the finale with simple chops. again thanks for your help and again mucho ache and keep up your great work in music and giving us great advice. my best, franc :D
