Tremendous performance! Notice that through most of it, except for a few minutes, he is holding clave with his foot. Percuba is one of the top percussion competitions in the world. Thanks JC for turning us on to another "hit".

I'm likin' this link! I've played a lot of djembe with west African guys over the years. I find the technique used here quite entertaining, the 7/8 thing had me guessing a bit as well. I really like the grey beard guy with the toque within the architectural design and setting - must have been below 20 degrees c. Were those suspenders he had on (nope - looked closer, it's a scarf)? Then rippin on that traditional drum – just great!

At first I thought the clave was being held by the kit player - but on second look it's the conga player Wicked!! I think you may just win with this clip johnny. I think I've seen the same player more recently and he just isn't as smooth and precise as he is here. perhaps a snapshot of his prime? that solo just gets so deep and tasty!!

You would be hard put to see a clip of Eliel where he " just isn't as smooth and precise as he is here " The guy is incredible ! Best player out there at the moment imo .
