Alafia Abures Mi!
I hope that you are all well and abundantly blessed!

It's unfortunate Abure Abakua that you were not able to receive an endorsement opportunity from Volcano Percussion, given your obvious talents on the skins and your gigging track you would have made a great endorser in my humble opinion. I attempted to do as Abure Burke had done, only I didn't have the patience to look/read through all of the previous posts concerning "Volcano Percussion."

I did find a couple of responses that were posted by Tom himself and there was nothing that I personally would consider offensive or defamatory (? is this a word) overtly or otherwise by any of the forum members. Was Tom provided mis-information by another reader/member of this forum? not clear, but I would think that he would not be as "thin-skinned" as to be offended by comparisons of his instruments (which are beautiful in their own right), and others out there in the market. As for cost, I believe that his drums are competitively priced as are Matthew Smiths, Skin on Skin, Islas to name a few other Artisan produced drums.

Possibly Tom might be invited to post his concerns for clarification on this or not, but all-in-all, it is his company and therefore it becomes "his" decision whether to Jazzercise or elect to give an endorsement in another part of the globe. (I would hope for the latter).

Just for the record; I have not played nor owned any Volcano Percussion equipment and therefore my observations are based on our discussions here on the forum and from visiting his website. I would purchase some of his drums if funds were available, however I have all the drums that I wish to have in my lifetime.

I do congratulate our man JC on his endorsement selection and don't wish to take anything away from celebrating it!

Abure Abakua! I would continue to inquire with Tom as to the possibility of an endorsement for you! Ya neva know it may just happen for ya!

Many wonderful blessings to you all and Happy Holidays!

Con to'cariño!

burke wrote:Its Saturday and I'm bored so I did a search using 'Volcano'.

I saw 12 pages of gushing praise and one or two "they are a a bit pricey" comments and someone thought they were a tad ringy (just a tad, but still awesome).

Unless you want to call an opinion a "lie" - doesn't seem like anyone here has slandered these drums in any way whatsoever - rather the opposite. Congaplace would seem to be a major source of free promotion for the company - must have been someone else's forum.

Now I go practice on my "not Volcano's but if I win lottery I'd get some", congas

The discussion gets a little contentious around pages 6 or 7 of this thread--http://www.mycongaplace.com/forum/eng/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3254&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=volcano--but nothing that vaguely qualifies as "malicious lies blurted out across [this] forum." I'd be interested in knowing which posts he's referring to.

Hi Johnny, that's a record to be proud of.
Would be interested to hear how you have managed to be keep your drums ding free. How do you transport your drums to gigs?
Soft cases or hard cases etc? I'm pretty careful with my gear but every now and then...

Love the look of those Volcanoes by the way. I haven't been to Hawaii for a few years but if I get back there again I'll pay him a visit and see what it costs to get a set to Australia.

cheers

I use Conga cases for my congas...heres the thing, your instrument is an "extension of who YOU are" if your drums look like CaCa....how will that make YOU look?..have PRIDE in your profession!....punto final, ya....Johnny Conga...ps any dings on my congas were from friends or students who had no "consciousness of care "....

Congrats hermano, endorsements are hard to come buy. From the beginning I have loved the way the wood grain come through on the Volcano drums. Now... the name, was it silk screened , stamped , burned, or vinyl cut ? and yes it is way too Big. takes away from the beauty of the grain.

JC,

Felicidades for the holiday season and for your endorsement from Vocano. You definitely deserve it, after dedicating most of your life the drum. The only thing, I would have asked for traditional crowns. We are ol' skool "Mongoettes" and we like traditional crowns, see if the guy will accept those crowns and give you his traditional option. Abrazos pa' ti y tu esposa.

Tu socio,

Dario
