Anybody like music from the lounge genre? probably only the oddballs here like myself. ??? I have liked some of the music that comes across the site: www.lounge-radio.com Not everything on there is good, so don't hold me to it, but they play some pretty grooving **** sometimes.... "If your into that kinda music anyway.." ??? The music is a mix between jazz, world, fusion, electronic... a lot of looped stuff that is cool to cop a funky beat to.

I am totally into the lounge music, Esquivel, Martin Denny, Les Baxter, Enoch Light all those guys...and the new group Don Tiki in Hawaii, they have some great video's on their website, actually, I'm gonna post them!

http://www.dontiki.com/tv.html

amother good station for lounge is somafm.com the "secret agent" channel.

a lot of those groups were really innovative in the inclusion and use of percussion, it's almost like you can't have lounge without bongos!

JM, I have been hooked on this station for a while, it has provoked me to go on line and purchase some cool tracks.

Derb, I bought about 15 tracks from emusic.com, but I don't think that they have the selection that other online retailers have. Amazon didn't have a lot of the music in their inventory either, and the other place that they point you to charges euro's. I suppose that maybe you found some stuff on itunes?

Derbeno, thanks for the track recommendations. Unfortunately, I have no recommendations cause I just started paying attention to stuff that I like when listening recently. Usually I just turn it on and see whats currently playing, but lately I have been looking at the playlists too. As I run across cool sounding tracks in the future, I'll send you a pm with the names so you can check em out.

The Hed Kandi stuff is pretty good, the guy really coming out with good stuff now is Nicola Conte from Italy, Italian Jazz is really hot right now, check anything on the Scheme label, they usually have tasty percussion on there.

Some other good modern stuff is Koop, their album Islands, I just saw them play last week

This might be a little more on the Nu-Jazz side.

There's blurry lines between the chilled out electronica stuff from like Hotel Costes compilations and the more jazzy stuff I guess is Nu- Jazz, then there's the old stuff, like Esquivel, Enoch Light and the exotica stuff like Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman.

They have also been releasing all this great Italian movie score stuff on the Easy Project compilations, stuff from Pierro Umiliani and Lesiman, kind of what they are calling "Crime Jazz", it's all "lounge-ish" though..
