So I came across a trade this weekend that I just couldn't pass up. I traded my 3 LP classics for a vintage Gretsch USA drumset. So now I am unfortunately without a conga for a little bit :( . After much debate and extensive thought over the offer, I decided that the value of the Gretsch kit was just far greater than that of the LPs, my percussion teacher agreed and told me to jump on it immediately. Nonetheless I am extremely happy with my new drumset, but am already missing my babbies :'(. I plan to replace the LPs with a 2 set of vintage congas, probably Gon Bops, to match my vintage drumset. Already have my eye on a nice 11" single for $150 that I will hopefully pick up on wed.

Just thought I'd share. If anyone sees a nice deal on a set of congas, or singles please let me know. Also if anyone has some extras laying aroung and is interested in a trade I have a nice custom built auxhilliary 16" kick drum, perfect for a conga/percussion setup. PM me for more info and pics.

if the trade was worth it, you did the right thing. Keep your eye out on auctions on Ebay...best place to get congas. The great thing about congas is that, if you know a particular model's sound is good, you can bid with confidence that the congas will be fine, and all you might need to do is change the heads.

Keep your eye out for LP Classics, or one of the pro model fiberglass sets (don't pay for any extra artist endorsed models...they're just the same as the LP Classics or the basic pro fiberglass models).
