Greetings Forum members,
want to just share a few pics of my recently completed Cajon.
It's made from two old cabinet doors that I found on the street a few years ago...
2mm thick, solid laminated pine with Walnut veneer with teak and Nyangon wood inlays and a stained Birch plywood front.
I first played Cajon in September when asked to play with a group in a competition. The Musicians play usually Mexican and other south American Folk music. And the Guitar player I knew from a regular Latin American Music session.
We played an Afro Peruvian tune, Maria Lando and La Vivda es un Carnival where I played Congas on.
Unforunately I don't have a link of me playing the Cajon, but the tune with the Congas is here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN4lrEF7D50By the way, we won first prize
Anyway I played the Cajon of another musician and I was recently aked again by the Guitar player to play a gig of mostly Cumbia, Bambuco and Mexican Folkorico Music, most of which were new to me and in adition to Bongó, I needed a Cajon on which to practice, so I built this one.
I made my own snare and it sounds better than I expected it to.
