I wish I could grab up this Gon Bop quinto, but not an economic reality right now...

Maybe one of you guys might be interested.

Kid Cuba,

You are fortunate to be in the LA area. The Craig's list listings are the best in the California area compared with most of the rest of the ole' USA for congas and latin percussion. There are deals to be had by sheer number of listings. I was amazed by the number of listings the last time I looked.

I suggest keeping an eye on Craig's list and saving the shipping charges by buying local. It is always a good thing to see what you are paying for before handing the cash over.

Happy holidays to you and the rest at Conga Place.

Sad when $150 for a drum can't be an economic reality for a musician.

Nice looking drum.
In my part of the world that price for a Gon Bop quinto would be considered an absolute bargain.

I may have to move to San Fran to get better drum deals. I second that Cali has the best CL listings. The Midwest is lacking in that area.

Yeah, these kind of deals on vintage drums happen all the time here.

Calling me a musician is a stretch, more like, a student of the drum. :)

I was lucky enough to win this Quinto (another addition to my collection) :D. I admit there are still good finds out there. The owner of this quinto has a matching Gon Bops mahogany conga and tumba that he wants to sell.

If you check this thread

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5489

you'll see a picture of the GB's quinto I refinished: Mine has the different hardware, but what is a bit freaky is the colour match with the stain I used compared to yours.

Nice drum! I may be biased :)

Nice drum Burke! You did an awesome job! There's a set of nice vintage Marianos for $400 advertised on San Diego Craigslist.

I took a look [even though I'm not in the market & am
1000's of kilometers away] but they weren't there ... must have been snapped up already.
