Hi David,

thanks for researching this. The story was nice, too. So Leedy definitely built this type of timbales before 1950. Hard to imagine that Leedy came up with this as early as in the 1930s, though.

my pleasure, Thomas - I was surprised at how little I was able to dig up - even the drum catalogs of that era (late '40s to early '50s) seem to sell for over $200. I've seen a few books that detail the history of the company, so I'll see what I can find out. In the meanwhile, here are a few photos I found currently on ebay from a lucky gentleman with at least one Humberto Morales set too many:

That's Faustino Cruz. I bought my Slinger-Leedy timbales from this man.
