Saludos,Untaltumbador,in reality putting bongos and congas together was done by Miguelito Valdes with Conjunto Casino de la Playa(becouse Miguelito would come with the conga to the middle of the stage holding it from the shoulders(Carnival's Style),while the bongocero would play in the background),but what I said they did first(Machito's Band) was putting the whole cuban-bateria(Timbal,Congas and Bongos together).

Que tal Zaragemca, so it was Miguelito Valdez that incorporated the conga with the bongo. I am facinated with how well they were received. In my opinion, I think that the conga/timbales combo sounds better. In fact, based on what I 've seen, it seems as if the bongo is being phased out. This may be for economics reason though.

I read in another post, you saying that there are 7 ways to the open slap? I would be nice to see you expand on this topic.

Greeting the other post is in relation to 7 factors which would influence the sound of the congas(including the slap),by this time I already mentioned the factors.
