What make is this Conga

I don't know myself but I'm trying to find out where this Conga is from. The reason is because I was able to get one on Ebay after it was passed over by everyone. I was the only bidder and for $250 I got a phenominal Conga. It looks like a Gon Bops but isn't. Most probably Mexican or Cuban. I'm not sure but would love to know. This thing sounds crazy!!!!

This is a b4 and after pic. The only difference with mine is that it has the three legs. I took them off but didn't fill in the holes. I wanted to keep it the way I got it. Besides, I don't play standing.

Another beautiful conga drum. I would venture to say
that this drum is Mexican, Playa Azul or something
like that. But then again there are older (1950's, 1960's)
Gon Bops that wear that hardware style.

It's interesting that you mention the older Gon Bops hardware style of the 50's and 60's. This drum was purchased at an estate sale by the person I got it from. It was sold by an old woman who stated that her husband was Cuban and that he purchased the drum in the 60's. I don't remember where. but, the Conga is SOLID man. It sounds amazing. I dare say just as nice as my Tirado Tumba What kind of wood would you say its made from Ritmo. Does it resemble Caoba. It's not on the light side like the Tack drum but not as heavy as a Gio.

In my opinion is another spruce drum or some
other pine species. I am basing my opinion that
you were able to achieve a gloss finish on this drum.
Normally on hardwoods like ash, oak, mahogany
you have to fill the pores to achieve a gloss finish
meaning the are "open pores" wood but pine species
like spruce you can achieve a gloss finish easier
because they are "close pores" wood.
