Charlie Vega Bongos

Saludos, Just have this CVS Bongó cooking inside the pot. Should be finish by the third week of Jun. Made in P.R by an Artisan and indeed Musician. Charlie is a Working Bongocero so he knows how should be made and sound. I gave him my inputs and will be watching along the way at least for the Hembra skin selection. Would be made of 3/4 thick Red Cedar. :D

Tat shell design is unique ( I do not really dig it though)
and the wood beautiful. As always, sound matters most!

You can follow Charlie Vega on Facebook.
The brother makes other percussion instruments
as well, his plena panderetas are highly regarded.

Saludos, here is the CVS Bongó,made of 3/4" thick Red Cedar, not heavy at all(10 pounds). It is beautiful made & beautiful sounding piece with mule skin on Macho & thick Cow skin on Hembra.Outside measures are 7.25" X 8.25" but as it is made cylindrical shape the Hembra botton opening is bigger (6 7/8") than in my Matador and bigger (5 3/4") than the Matador Macho. Also has the same size openings as on my Moperc. I paid $350 and could be up for sale so if anybody is interested let me know. The CVS is made by a Bongocero so the sound is like is suppose to be ,OLD SChOOL. Will be taking him to rehearse tomorrow and to gig next saturday the 29 as I be playing with Conjunto Akangana . :D

Very nice Caballo. So you're saying that the Mopercs you presently own are on your sales listing? This is what I gathered from your post, correct me if I'm wrong. The Charlie Vega's look as thick as a Moperc model. I'm sure you're extremely happy at the way they turned out. Keep the music swinging my friend and enjoy your new set. Cuidate...Jorge.

Saludos Salcero, no, the Moperc is not on sale, I was referring about the Cvs. Yesterday was test time during the rehearsal with Conjunto Akangana & let me tell you, this Bongo owns that old school sound with a solid deep output from the Hembra and a very high crispy sound from the Macho. It is call El Bongolon by his maker.

Looks like Charlie Vega bongos are back
in production and not at a bad price for
artisan made bongos.

Carajo!!! eventhough all my Bongos have an excellent sound I can said these CVS is marvelous. He was my choice to play last night with Conjunto Akangana and was projecting a very clean dry Martillo sound with a deep mellow tone from the Hembra.Slaps were loud and clean.
