Dings on Macho edge

Postby Dicemanb » Mon Jan 14, 2013 7:18 pm

Hola hermanos,

My bongo (Generation IIs) has a few dents on the macho edge where they have been hit (by accident) when playing the skin with the campana beater, pre changeover.

a. Does it matter?
b. Can dents be removed without having to turn the wood back .... steaming, wetting etc ????
c. Any other suggestions?

I dont know much about wood, but any suggestions from the Brother/sisterhood would be appreciated.

If it still sounds the way it always has, it wouldn't seem like it needs to be repaired. The dents can be sanded down a bit if they bother you. I recommend using a sanding sponge, it will keep the profile of the bearing edge as you even out the dents.
