Conical Versus Cylindrical Bongo drums

Is there a difference between that type of drum shape? I ask because I have seen both types but have not found a good answer. I have a Valje which is conical and ordered a Pearl Elite Fiberglass which according to the pictures on the Pearl web page looks cylindrical in shape.Thanks
