yes...

what do you mean by similar to Lp PP ones, what odel is that...
i have the first series galaxy Gio one, that is a bongo not to many have talked about, or had experience with...
The Wood on that bongo is real good, not like the stuff being made now, the wood grain is son nice from up close.
When i saw them in person i felt in loe with the wood grain stripes, and i bought one.

It my FIRST BONGO, sooo when i was begginging i was in love with it. I asked my bongo teacher, for advice on what lp bongo to buy, he recomende the lp valje bongos, or the Gio'S because of sound.
When i bought iti took it to a private class with him, and he made it sound better then some costume hand made bongos i have. He is loud and sharp when he plays it.

I liked it, but wanted more of an old school sound, is a good salsa bongo, so i changed the heads on it , to some Pan Con Queso skins.
And i sounds good.

But i didnt use it a lot, when i got into congas. I had it on the estuche 4 a long time, is almost near brand new, i still have the tags that came with it. I was a big Gio fan, a long time ago, that is why i bought it, i am not a big fan now.
I love Barretos playing....
is a big salsa bongo, and now i am into rumba a lot more.

I will take some more detail pics of my set and post...
I will sell it soon.

Thank you guys for responding, let me explain the situation, I got a really good deal on a vintage set, I'm pretty sure its vintage cuz it looks like old school LP , the label on it is the older LP logo and it says "galaxy" on it, the wood grain is very nice like mr.conga said, I wish I could post up the pics but my pc is messed up, anyways I'm pretty sure these things were not made in thailand (or maybe I'm wrong), the only thing that makes me doubt is that it has comfort curve rims, so maybe its from the 90's?? I kno its too hard to explain and you guys understand without the pictures, so I'll post them up as soon as I get them....

Cuco: na they don't look like those new gio galaxys

They stopped making the original galaxy's a while ago, they were made in thailand but they used NA oak, not like today's Gio's which are made of ash, they stopped making them because they were having lots of problems with the oak cracking, it wasn't cured corectly. At least that's what I heard.

Yeah that's a great deal, I still think NA oak is one of the best woods, along with mahogany, for drums, if you like the brighter sounds. If the bongo is in good shape I'd go for it, at that price you can't lose, the problems were more witht eh congas from what I understand.

Bongo, those galaxys have a terrible bearing edge that do nothing but hurt your hands. It is comparable to an iron pot. My 2 centavos

Saludos arre,

Cierto k si, also the fact that it has "comfort curve" rims is something that doesn't go with me...

I contacted the seller Wednesday to give me the shipping charges and still no answers, so who knows the deal doesn't go down and I end up wit a set of el piernas for Xmas ..
