Unfreaking Believable Bongo Lesson on Youtube

Postby BMac » Tue Dec 29, 2009 5:06 am

Wow.
I don't know what to say other than "wow."
So maybe this guy gets paid for the advertising you see as the video queues up ... so there might be some guilty pleasure in chuckling at this ... but ... hey, maybe he makes a cent for you to watch this ... don't you want to know what is out there as a "lesson?"
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Am I allowed to be embarassed for white people over this?
Cheers,
BMac

Holy smokes there's more.
Ok I'll stop now.
Forgive me if you knew this stuff was out there ... I didn't know.
Surely you can see some humor in this ... can't you?
I find this at least temporarily hilarious!
Sure it will wear off really quickly but for just a moment this is funny stuff:

Kinda reminds me of this guy.

I must admit both posters seem sincere, though pathetic.

Its a fact of life that any idiot with a camera & connection can post on youTube.
It would be easy to initiate a bashing session on those guys....just look at the youTube comments.

There's too much other GOOD stuff out there.

Re: Horrible Bongo Lessons on Youtube

We ought to work to dismantle or expose "Expert Village", who are the real party to blame.
Start badgering them with emails & comments.
I've seen a few "self-designated teachers" who can't even produce the basic
tones from one conga - and don't take clave seriously at all. ..often drumset players or guitarists who've convinced
their music schools that they actually know something. One local rock guitarist told
me he was also the conga teacher at his music school..yet he couldn't deliver a basic normal tumbao!
Very frustrating.
This is doing dangerous
damage -1. by not inspiring the next generation with truth & knowledge, and 2. spreading false
information. We laugh now , but the conga & bongo traditions will suffer if
morons are allowed to take the helm of educating future players.
with 35,000 hits, some damage has been done. Perhaps it's a sign of the times
and society's increasingly short attention span. Hopefully the good stuff will be found.

Over a year ago I emailed Expert Village about the appalling standard of most of the EV percussion videos (pointing out the exception of JC of course).
I never had a response or acknowledgement from them.

Expert Village is full of village experts.

As a 66 year old white boy, I’m embarrassed for my race! We should all be thankful however that the MF doesn’t teach cardiology.
