A Christmas Present

Alright Bongoceros, Here is the last addition to my arsenal of fine Bongos. This time made by Master craftman Alejandro 3A form Cali Colombia. Take a look of the non traditional approach he has desing on this Bongó. $250 hand delivered to me. Althought is mine we have arrange that as soon as he get the rest of the merchandise out of U.S custom I could exchange this one for any other of the 14 different desings he have waiting to pick up. He carried this one with him and I prefered to have this one on hand in the case that U.S customs play stupid giving Alejandro a hard time, on Monday he should get the merchandise. Measurements are 7" & 9" made of Rosewood 5/8 "thick, heavy duty hardware, ready to play and top of the line skins. As soon as I get back to him, pictures would be post of the other desings.

Se ven tremendo brother! Killer design, I love them! But tell me, on the skins, have they been painted? Or used dye/tinta? My only concern is the red and orange coming off and staining your hands? Pero estan fantasticos, all the hardware looks heavy duty and I like the design very much... Im curious if the skins stain the hands, if not, then I cant fault them! I bet they sound fantastic, the skins certainly look the part, in terms of thickness/texture etc. Would it be possible to upload a video to youtube so we can hear them in action?

Saludos, Yambu, this set has a very powerfull old school sound,you do not have to hit it hard. I use it last night for a gig and it cut thru the music effortless. If I compare them to the other sets I got, he has his place in the sound scale because each one has a distintive sound.

Abakua, Alejandro explained about the process involve during the painting, and no, that paint is there to stay. I ask him about when the time comes to change the Macho skin and he said those skins will be available to order or would be sold in 2 stores down here. Anyway tomorrow we are going to meet before he delivers the merchandise to the stores so I could select another or keep this one. There are 2 painten blue,1 ebony black, some red ones and a yellow to gold one with different shades

Estan cabron. My only concern wouldve been the skins, but you have cleared that up for me. I really like the modern look on classical style.

Abakua I agree sometimes it's nice to get away from the old skool looks and add something more modern and fresh to the mix. Refreshing to see something other than browns and dark wood.

Word. Old school shape and the old gon bop or valje style hardware, with modern colours and psycho skins. Im a fan.

Juancho, que Volá ? El antes podía conseguir buena madera pero ya no. El me comentó que no todo el tronco resulta bien pues tiene nudos y otras imperfecciones por eso ahora los hace de tablitas. 3A use to make them of 1 piece. I ask him about and he said he could not get the type of wood for that purpose. Also if he could then it is a 50/50 chance of really obtaining a solid piece of good wood, it could look good on the outside but not all could be use. He is using some kind of dowels to secure the staves together and to make a strong bond.
