I am having very mixed thoughts after reading your post.

First thought/feeling is sadness at your needing to sell them right now. I read all your posts when you ordered them and when you first got them and when you went over to Dario's to compare them to all his great bongos.

Next thought was that I should buy them from you but remembered Dario's comment about exotic percussion being like a narcotic drug. I certainly don't "need" them but this board has pushed me in the direction of becoming a collector - I bought 3 rare bongos this year that I really don't "need". Then again, I do know that there is nothing better around then these and no waiting.

Another thought is that I really don't want to take any advantage of anybodys financial situation, and I have never been that good at business, but I have often seen members of this board giving first option to other members but then putting their drum on Ebay for less and eventually selling for even less. Still, these bongos should be worth more, not less, over time and I really hope you do not take any loss - better yet, come out ahead.

So for now, I'm going to pass but if the thought of them keeps me awake I'll PM you. But really, I do hope you can keep them!

VERY FEW PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD OF OURS OWN SUCH A FINE BONGO. I ALSO CAME VERY CLOSE TO BUYING HIS, SO THAT I MAY HAVE TWO SETS OF MATTHEWS, BUT, HONESTLY AFTER SOME THOUGHT, I FELT LIKE I DID NOT WANT TO IN ANYWAY, HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH HIS SELLING OF HIS MATTHEWS, BECAUSE I TRULY HOPE HE'LL JUST KEEP THEM. THE MONEY DISAPPEARS BUT THE MEMORY OF WHAT WAS DONE, WILL LAST A LIFE TIME. THE MONEY THAT WOULD BE AQUIRED IS MUCH TOO SMALL TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE. I MUST DISCLOSE THAT I WAS ALSO GOING TO SELL MY MATTHEW'S AND MY ISLAS, BUT I TOOK (BONGOSNOTBOMBS) ADVICE TO HEART, AND I'M VERY GLAD I DID ESPECIALLY AFTER I PUT THEM ON EBAY AND EVEN HAD A BUYER FOR MY ISLA TUMBA, THERE WAS HOWEVER A WAITING PERIOD FOR MONEY TO BE RELEASED TO ANYONE WITH LESS THAN A 100 TRANSACTION LEVEL. SO I JUST CALLED THE BUYER, AND TOLD HIM THAT I'M NOT GOING TO SELL THEM ANY LONGER, SO I TOOK A LOSS OF SOME CASH DUE TO MY POSTINGS. BUT, I STILL HAVE MY DRUMS, AND THEY'RE STAYING!!! THE MONEY THAT I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN WOULD HAVE DISAPPEARED IN A FLASH AND MY DRUMS WOULD HAVE JUST BEEN A BITTER SWEET MEMORY

Personally I wouldn't knowing the hard work it goes into making these and waiting such a long time for them...........keep'em viejo Vinnie.

Regretfully difficult times is forcing the sale of my Mat Smith Bongo. The Bongo is beautiful made of Mahogany. Before posting on ebay I am offering it for sale to members here. I waited almost a year to get this bongo from the time I ordered it. If you are in the market for a truly special bongo you can avoid a long wait. PM me if interested. This bongo is immaculate.

I'm very sorry to hear that times have become difficult for you. Much as I'd love to have a pair of Matthew Smith bongos myself, I'd have to agree with the rest of the respondents so far. Keep them as long as you're able to. There might be other things that you can part with first, if you have to resort to such a thing.

I'll pray that things will get much better for you. I know that this is much easier said than done, but "Hang in there, bro!
