Mark, nice playing and nice sounding macho! I just scored 2 x-ray sheets in Havana from Airel, the bongocero/conguero in Grupo Santiago & Havana. I met them in the Bar Monserrate where they became my favorite band for 2 weeks. Ariel said to use a thin coating of grease between 2 sheets to hold them together and then draw an oversized circle, cut it out and then make evenly spaced cuts from the outside toward the center but, not so far that they'll interfere with the bearing edge. I don't know the reason for 2 sheets. That's what he recommended. Years ago I mounted a single on my Mienl and loved it. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm planning on putting them on my Gon Bops Californias. Buck

Great buckoh, thanks for the tips.. very interesting, "a thin coating of grease between 2 sheets" and Isaac's "put 'em in the oven"... sounds like we're baking cakes. :P
Re: grease between each film, now when I think about it... I seem to remember the "EM-RAYS" had what I thought looked like slight oil/liquid spots between the plys.
Thanks for the info buckoh.

From Emedin Riveras Web site:
"BONGO HEADS: made by Emedin called EM-RAYS.
EM - RAYS The LATEST in Bongo Heads.
No more breaking Bongo Heads.
EM-RAYS are made of a strong DOUBLE-PLY PLASTIC that will
Last Longer than any ordinary head.
Neither Moisture, Heat nor Cold will affect the quality of the sound.
Once tuned, they never need tuning again.
EM-RAYS also produce an excellent sound for recordings"
