I just saw Ritmo Boricua posted a very nice set of Cuban Bongos on ebay, thought I would add it here so no one misses out on them.

Wow! These look to be very similar to the ones Cuco owned, or might still own.

It's amazing that this 1950's Cuban percussion relic shows up 60 years later and in such good condition. It looks to me like a very high end (solid shells) Candido Requena. I have had 2 Requenas but mine were Cedro staves wood, not Caoba. They don't look Vergara to me. It must have been a very high end special order from the likes of Yeyito or Marcelino Valdes because Requenas were mostly staves. With a thin pergamino on the macho and a thin cowhide on the hembra this ol' boy is going to sound better than any bongo' out there and will only weigh like 4 pounds.
