It's amazing that this 1950's Cuban percussion relic shows up 60 years later and in such good condition. It looks to me like a very high end (solid shells) Candido Requena. I have had 2 Requenas but mine were Cedro staves wood, not Caoba. They don't look Vergara to me. It must have been a very high end special order from the likes of Yeyito or Marcelino Valdes because Requenas were mostly staves. With a thin pergamino on the macho and a thin cowhide on the hembra this ol' boy is going to sound better than any bongo' out there and will only weigh like 4 pounds.
