Any comments on these? Do they look like they are solid shells?

They look really nice. I have a very similar set and they sound great. I also have a pair of Valje concert bongos (big ones) from the 60's, that I bought from John "Dandy" Rodriguez. Original Valje bongos are highly collectible. Enclosed see mine.

Those are one of the most sought after Valje models, in blak walnut with
the metal tube center block style.

I know it's a recession or whatever, but those should get at least $500 in that condition,
probably more.

Except now that I look at the ebay Valje, it does not have the original lugs. These lugs
are different than any Valje lugs I have seen and are different than the ones in Darios
pics.

BNB,

Like you say, only the lugs will take anything away from those old Valje walnut bongos. They look to be in great condition, you're talking late 50's with those. Exceptional for any collector and a truly great sounding pair of bongos with proper quality heads ( s/b on the thin side for the macho).

Your right Dario, those drums look great, Ralph will make new lugs for these anytime, $10 each if
I remember.

Here is another set from Ralph's website of the same model I think.

If I was working right now I would probably be bidding.

Well the seller claims the lugs are original, they look aftermarket to me,
anyways, maybe they are original, I've been wrong before, but those lugs just
don't look right. Still, I wish I was in a position to bid.

these are some nice drums. lugs do look a bit off BUT my experince with valje was that some had slightly differet look to the hardware even the shape of drum... Lucky for the winner there is a way to find out for sure... Ralph should have a good idea if these are orig.
