Some pretty rad lookin' gear, bombas, congas and some giant conga beast I've never seen before. Reclaimed cuban mahogany!!

Nice wood and look like nice craftsmanship. A couple of them look like they have been genetically modified. Has anyone played them or heard them?

Are they really on sale? Strange, there is no info on the net whatsoever.

Cuban Mahogany from a City of London bank in the 1920's.

All that leaves me pretty doubtful.

Don't doubt the wood. Those were the days - 1920's to 1950 - when Cuban mahogany was shipped all over the world for paneling and furniture. I've been in rooms in Europe and in apartments in NYC where the walls were paneled in Cuban mahogany.

I've got a big old mahogany dining table, sits 18, that I believe would make a great set of congas. Someday.

Psych1, I am still not totally convinced.
At least I find it strange - to say the least - that the blog website
does not offer any kind of contact details or the like. Whatever,
those drums in the picture surely do look nice.

They don't look like congas to me at all. They look like a westernized ensemble for Ghana percussion, without the peg and rope system of tuning. The tall one appears to be an atesimevu shape and the others look like similar shapes to that style.

The webpage is pretty umm... sketchy. More pics would be nice!

good feedback... got any pics of these traditional drums? I especially like the giant pig iron bell hanging on that beast of a ... whatever it is. I have a much smaller version of that bell and share your understanding of it's african roots!

I"ve hade them made for me in Ghana .Great drums . The Ujama set depicted in the top post looks verry interresting to me !!

From big to small : Atsimevu - Skinslapper - Sogo - Kidi - Agpacbang (the one nearest to the camera) -

The dubble bell is called : Gankogui .
