Conga identification

Hy every body !

Do somebody have ever seen this kind of drum, what brand is it ??

It's a beautifull work, I have never seen a "zigzag" gluiing like that : WONDERFULL...

I would guess that the "zig zags" are meant to create more surface area between the staves for the glue to bond too. A valid technique, is somewhat labor intensive. Cool drum.

Most of the details …

    skin
    crown
    lugs
    wood (beech)
    leather handhold

... point to a Sonor conga made in Germany later than 1982 and maybe before 1985.

I believe they are Filipino congas, one of my first teachers has a set.

To low on funds i'm afraid ! But if you lend me the money ... I just PMed you my bank account nr ...... :mrgreen:
The tubs don't look so bad only i don't think the hardware is any good .

Also i wonder what Philipino's know about Conga making (no offence mend though , just wondering )

Those are definitely Teo-Dor Manilas. Back in the 60's to 70's there was a drum maker in the Philippines called Totoy Boogie. My dad had him make a small conga for me when I was 8 yrs. old. I had 4 of Totoy Boogie's congas when I left the Philippines in '78 and they were solid.

Sorry I don't have any pictures at all. That was a very long time ago. I wish I still had that drum.
